Canadian Scholarships available
The objective of this programme is to provide opportunities for students of other Commonwealth countries to pursue advanced programmes in Canada. The scholarships are intended for persons of high intellectual promise who may be expected to make a significant contribution to their own countries on their return from study in Canada.
The Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Programme is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT). The Canadian commonwealth scholarship Committee is composed of faculty members from universities across Canada and is responsible for recommending to DFAIT scholarship winners from among the nominations submitted by foreign CSFP agencies.
Eligibility requirements are as follows:
§ Candidates should be Commonwealth citizens or British protected persons permanently residing in a Commonwealth country other than Canada.
§ Candidates should hold a degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised university.
§ Scholarships will not be awarded to candidates wishing to undertake undergraduate studies, a second PHD degree, studies in medicine or dentistry, postdoctoral studies/research, clinical training, executive MBA programmes including international aviation, or any other academic programmes not publicly supported.
§ Preference will be given to candidates who have obtained a university degree within the last five years. Previous Canadian Commonwealth scholars are not eligible for a second award.
Interested persons who meet the requirements may find further information and application forms in the Ministry of Education and Culture. All applications must reach the Ministry on or before Friday, December 14.
